Sunday night: The week ahead

Hmmm...the espadrilles and the Eiffel Tower make a striking dream combination.

But meanwhile back at the hacienda, I have been mulling over the results of my first week of public WW blogging. What did I do well? Where is there room for improvement? What do I have coming up this week that I can think through and plan for ahead of time?

First, I am pleased with the overall results. I hit 7/7 in many categories...vitamin, liquids, exercise, and lean protein. I hit 5/7 in dairy, fruits/veggies, oils, whole grains.

Next, knowing I was going to publish the results of my day did keep me on the straight and narrow and got me walking and/or going to the pool everyday.

Finally, I was pleased with the variety of food that I am eating as well as the choices I am making.

What about the week ahead? I have a Central College administrator here until Thursday which means some meals out. I have already decided where we will eat based on knowing I can order a meal that fits within my guidelines. I have done well in making good choices when I eat at the Central House. (Yes, Naphtali, in addition to field trips to the beach, long vacation periods, etc., I can eat all my meals at the house if I want to.) The problem is that it is easy to go waaaaaaay over points when doing so. Everything is cooked with lots of fat, and the meals are served family style. I attribute some of my success last week to eating only the mid-day meal at the house. I actually haven't eaten dinner there all semester because dinner is a mine field....dessert, quesadillas, enchiladas. Peggy, the visiting prof, also leaves on Thursday for spring break in Iowa which means I will not be keeping her company during meals, and I can eat all of my meals at home. I don't other commitments that involve food this week.

In terms of exercise, afternoon swims will probably be limited to Wednesday, Thursday and Friday because of community site visits with the administrator, but there is no reason not to walk in the mornings.

Here is today's report:

B: Toast, spinach, 1 slice of ff cheese, 1 c. milk = 4

Brunch: Scrambled eggs, oil, papaya, banana, chai latte alto = 9 (I accomplished this by ordering off the menu rather than choosing the buffet.)

L: Chicken salad with carrots , butter lettuce = 7

S: Sushi, California roll, 8 pieces = 8

D: Zucchini, squash, carrots - 1 cup each = 0

Total: 28 pts
