A clean day

These Mexican wedding cake cookies are posted here only because this is as close as I got to them today. For some completely unfathomable reason, only a few students like these tasty treats. Dona Lupita made them on Monday, and they have finally all been eaten. I set a new record by only eating two all week.
Most students took off today for Spring Break. They are due back on April 1 with a field trip planned for April 2. Only 2 remain in the Central House with no plans. I am hoping they have some local plans and are not hanging around the house with long faces all week. I have about a million little details to take care of before leaving for Iowa the following week.
Due to another State Department Travelers Advisory against travel to Mexico, the university that was to rent the Central House for the month of June cancelled its program today even though the advisory specifically cites Yucatan as a safe area. This is a serious financial blow for us although it is good for me in that I will be able to hold our summer session classes in the house. If anyone wants to visit, there are rooms available for the low, low price of $27 per night, per room. You, too, could meet the roasted beet man, the roasted chicken man, the sweet potato salesman, the swim suit making lady, my usual seamtress, the mani-pedi people, the masseuse, the acupuncturist, the tarot card reader, the cooks, and the rest of the city. Of course, it will be 114 degrees in the shade, and the Central House is not air conditioned. Hey, but other than that, it would be a great vacation.

The daily report:
B: Bran Flakes, blueberries, banana, 1 c milk = 5
S: Egg McMuffin w/o cheese = 5
L: Leftover chicken/vegetable soup, 1/2 leftover baked sweet potato = 5
S: Whole wheat toast, spinach, ff cheese slice = 2
D: Chicken breast, tomatoes, and avocado wrapped in butter lettuce, apple = 6
S: 1 c ff yogurt, 1T pb, mango = 5
Total: 28
Exercise: Walk in am - 50 minutes

what a cast of characters! Do weekends (with the attitude of relaxation of,or even freedom from, routines)present the same problems for you that they do for statesiders?
