Here is the newest addition to my wardrobe made by my tailor, Don Roberto. He made the shirt first in cotton and is now working on one in white linen. Total cost? Cotton fabric - $4.00 US. Labor: $12.00 US. Linen here, as everywhere, is more expensive. I paid $30 US for the linen but labor costs remain the same. I love the the tucks/pleats/folds or whatever they are called plus the mother-of-pearl buttons. But mainly I love the comfort.

Yet another white shirt
I finally thought of a label for my wardrobe: Always Summer. Except for the odd trip, my reality is that it is always summer in Merida. Temperatures vary from a cool 75 to a sweltering 110, and I need to dress accordingly. My other reality is that I need protection from the sun. Layering is unnecessary as it is hot 24 hours a day. Scarves, my favorite accessory, make me sweat just thinking about them. I half-seriously commented to Ilona that I would be perfectly happy living in white cotton or linen shirts and black cotton or linen pants for the rest of my life.

love the shirt. i had wondered if you'd ever post wardrobe pics....
and i love the idea of titling your wardrobe!! i've seen in other posts where they refer to a work wardrobe or casual wardrobe etc but those are designations not titles. your title really elevates the whole process. tres chic! me? i have trouble thinking of the clothes i wear as anything more than the clothes i wear. a wardrobe? that's for someone else.
Interestingly, naming my wardrobe helped to solidify the vision of the kind of clothes I like, need and want. What I also realized is that I am fortunate that I only need one wardrobe for year round use.
happy birthday my sistah!!!!!!!
you are great and beautiful and the best.....love you soooo much and miss you..have a great day my sistah!!!!!!!!!!!andrea
i love it! i too could live in white linen and flowing pants, but alas, I live in MN. Your tailor does a beautiful job.
i was hoping your comment to naphtali meant you'd posted something new here?
