The fall semester began August 24 with the arrival of 10 students - 8 females, 2 males, 7 Central students, 3 non-Central students plus Central Visiting Professor Phil Webber and his wife, Jan. It is a good group with all students speaking at least an intermediate level of Spanish and all are involved in a variety of internships and service learning projects.
As has become a tradition, we ended our week of orientation with a trip to the flamingo reserve at Celestun. I think we saw the greatest number of flamingos at the site since I began bringing groups here. I continue to get chills when watching the birds and am determined to get a telescopic lens because my camera as it is now is simply not up to the job of capturing their beauty, color and elegance.....of the birds, not the girls.
More to come....
