An on-going project

In addition to the outdoor classroom pictured in yesterday's entry, we also use the library on the second floor of the house as a classroom. Unfortunately, this room has also become a dumping zone for used textbooks, files, research papers, boxes and who knows what else. The room smells of dampness and mold because of the heat and humidity. The shelves sag under too much weight. Starting today, my goal is to spend a minimum of one hour a day restoring order to this wonderful resource. I have located a recycling center that will pick up any materials in the "throw" pile. There is an English library here in Mérida that will take some books.
The other reality that I need to think about as I work is how the space and resources will be used. Most of the books are out of date for coursework such as what is required of my Contemporary Issues class. Other books, however, will stand the test of time such as literature and art books. Should be an interesting project. So I need to get to it.
