Of all the houses I have lived in, my favorite was my house in Chapala because of the view and the pool. My dream has been/is to have my own pool again, but I have yet to realize it. When I was looking for a house here in Mérida, all of the houses for rent that had pools were waaaaayyyy too big for my needs and budget. I settled for joining a swim class and was faithful about swimming 3 times a week or so during the spring semester. My schedule and the swim club's summer schedule did not mesh nor does it look like the fall schedule will either. So on Saturday, I found this pool at Home Depot. While I obviously won't be doing laps, I have to admit that I love it. The pool is deep enough and long enough that I can actually float. I get a kind of "isolation tank" experience where the world just goes away for awhile, and I cool down at the same time. I still feel there is the perfect house with pool waiting for me out there somewhere, but, for now, I am making due.

The Sept issue of Arch. Digest (online) has photos of a new house at Lake Chapala that is fantastic. I thought of you.
okay- so the thought of you in that pool makes me laugh a little bit. I only remember the lovely pool you had in Chapala, and so that is always how I envision your life and home in Mexico. maybe your next house?
maybe you should scan in the cow/pool photos so we can all remember.
Feel free to laugh...I certainly do! But I look forward to my daily dip and enjoy it thoroughly for now! I had completely forgotten about those frequent four-legged visitors to the Chapala pool!
close your eyes. breathe. float. and that pool becomes....
