The chicas of Fall 2011 have all flown away home, and I am alone. Notice, however, that I chose this image from Google of a nest that looks freshly made and is surrounded by the green leaves of the tree rather than an image of an old, dried out nest. Why? One reason is because, weather-wise, this is the best time of year to live in Merida. Temperatures are in the 70s with sunshine and cool breezes. Everything is green. But the other reason is because I do not feel dried out and tired. This was a good group...full of energy and ideas, goodwill towards each other, and a sense of independence. While it is true that I did go back to bed this morning after making the last of the airport and bus station drop offs, I am not in my usual state of exhaustion. The morning siesta was only because I rolled out of bed at 4:00 this morning to get my little birdies to where they need to be to move forward with the rest of their lives. 12.10.2011
Empty nest
